I had the opportunity to meet Adam Bourret and trade books with him a couple weeks ago at the Queen West Art Crawl. A 2009 Xeric Grant winner, I’M CRAZY is a fantastic, raw look at Adam’s journey through mental illness. Moving, emotional and often humorous – it is a fabulous story.
My two favourite lines:
-”We’re a pair. ‘Brother’ is to ’sister’ as ‘crazy’ is to ‘retarded’.”
- from Adam’s mom: “You’d rather be a racist than a pedophile. Wouldn’t you?”
Thank you Adam, your courage inspires me.

That looks very interesting. I visited his website and read some of the stuff there.
I might have to pick up a copy of the book.
It really was a good read… and so honest – nothing held back. It was fantastic.
I thought I would read a few pages but 45 minutes later I had to pry myself away to feed my child. Dark subject, illuminating presentation.
