Energy Artist Jewelry

I’m just going to state for the record that I don’t believe that anything like this should be claimed as “healing” or able to “clear”.

Not because I don’t think that’s real and possible – I am a dedicated energy healing participant.

I feel that it shouldn’t be marketed as such or present such claims as “able to clear a heart chakra”. Click here for more of the store.

This could be presented and marketed as a heart chakra image and give information about how colours are believed to impact the heart chakra etc. It’s just poor judgement to market it as a health or healing artifact.

However – please pay attention to the marketing: A very inexpensive pendant is being used to upsell to a ring. Good use of merch.

Is it okay to add people to my list that I meet while at a show, fair or convention?

 


 
Ahhh the list – I’m not surprised that’s one of my first questions.

Okay – first we need to differentiate between lists:

  • Contact Lists

    – which is everyone we’ve ever met and gotten their information. I even have people in my contact list from Facebook… when I accidentally imported everyone. It’s the address book/contacts list on our phone.

    Our contact list is not our mailing list.

    We can email any contact we have to say hello or ask them if they’d like to be included on our list – but our email list needs to abide by the CAN-SPAM & CASL laws.

  • Email List

    – which is best handled by a professional service provider: Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Aweber…etc. Mailchimp has a basic free service that will allow you to do most of what you need (not automation though, unfortunately).

CAN-SPAM & CASL laws require email marketers to

  • have a double opt-in
  • have a real address of a real person associated with the email list.
  • have proof of express or implied permission from the list member. Permission IS implied if they purchase from you.
  • offer a way to unsubscribe easily from each mailing

Because of these laws around collecting and emailing individuals for the purpose of business and sales – it’s best if you ask contacts in your address book to sign up if they’re interested and then give them a link to do so.

You can remind contacts via email or Facebook that you have a mailing list – but giving them a link to sign up themselves is the best way to abide by all the laws and regulations.

I don’t know what to send to my list – aside from event notices or new work.

 


 

  • You are a magical unicorn that people are interested in – both art and lifestyle, beliefs and inspirations.
  • All of your life is engaged in your creative process – so all of your life that you want to share is available to send to your list.
  • Only share when you are excited to share.
  • Only share when you are authentically activated in wanting your list to participate in your life.
  • Genuine intentions are the only ones that matter.
  • You are a fascinating creation who creates.
  • Your list gives a shit about all of that.

 

I don’t understand how I brand myself. It feels weird and fake.

 

 


 

  • If your branding feels fake – you’re not doing it right.
  • At it’s best – your branding is a natural extension of your best and brightest self.

How do I know who will like my work?

 

  • Start with your own interests, likes & dislikes & how you like to spend your time online and offline
  • Take a look at your friends and loved ones who already like and collect your artwork. What other kinds of things are they interested in? Look closer at that market.
  • Check out the people who follow you on social media – what else are they interested in? This is market research “done for you”.
  • Branding, Message & Voice

 
 

What is an associated market?

 


 

  • Check into sales niches that are similar to your own subject matter or share a similar ascetic or belief system.
  • Research opportunities to have shows, offer your work for consignment, or look into publications put out by the similar category and offer up articles about your own work and how it fits in with that particular niche.
  • Used Kelly Grace again and her vintage/Rock-a-billy style: associated with vintage hair and fashion, vintage furniture and article shops, Rock-a-billy burlesque & Rock-a-billy tattoos.
  • Research publications, outlets, shows and retailers to contact for opportunities.
