Should My Pants

BA – DANG!! Full colour bitches!!!

Here we are… this is the new format; commentary, introspection, editorial and autobio in the mix, all in one panel, full colour, cartoon glory. Suck it up and enjoy.

Or hate it, you know. Whatever.

The “Should”

I’ve been a victim of the “should” often in my life. I spent 4 summers as a daycamp leader and a year attempting to get into teacher’s college because I thought I “should” be a teacher. It sure felt like a loaded diaper. I don’t like teaching in the classroom… I like sharing; if anyone ever learns anything out of anything I’ve shared… well then sweet, but school can kiss my ass. Thank god I wasn’t accepted. (hooray!! Never, NEVER doubt that even shitty things happen for a reason…. more ‘shoulds’ ha!!)

Losing “shoulds” is a big part of how I’m Peeling Onions –  just follow joy.

Right now – this is my joy. Thanks for coming along.

This is really great, I love this: “Never, NEVER doubt that even shitty things happen for a reason” It took me a looooong time to figure that one out.

Looking forward to seeing your new format unfold. 🙂

Thanks Steph… I’m happy to be able to pair writing a blog post with the comics more often and tackle whatever topic is on my mind.

“I just should my pants?” You must be a closet Marc Maron podcast fan 🙂

I do not know Marc Maron… but now I may check it out.

I love it that you said “thank god” about not getting accepted into teaching school. I can remember a number of “almosts” in my life: almost getting jobs, almost getting apartments, almost moving far away, etc etc…and I have to admit, sometimes it’s really nice when the universe just says, “NO THANKS, WE DON’T WANT YOU!” It hurts in the moment, but then later you feel huge relief, and realize you didn’t really want that thing anyway. Sometimes rejection is the best thing ever, even when it breaks your heart.

Also, I’m excited about this new format you’re trying for Peeling Onions! I think it’s awesome when webcartoonists change up what they’re doing with a strip, even if some readers object. Find new ways to make it interesting for yourself, do what makes you happy, etc etc…I will keep reading!

Thanks Athena! I love that heart-broken image of “NO THANKS, WE DON’T WANT YOU” because it happens so often in my life, I love the humour in personifying the universe.

Thanks for your feedback and I’m glad you’re excited about the format. I’m excited too and a little nervous. I’m sure I’ll lose some people who don’t like the new Peeling Onions, I already have and that always blows, but I have to stay true to my joy and trust that I’m headed in the right direction.
