When I was 14, I bought a Norman Rockwell agenda.

I didn’t make use of the agenda so much as it was a dreamland companion for me. At work, school, on the subway… I could pull out that calendar and browse Rockwell’s paintings and be transported into an alternate reality, rich in detail and depth of story.

Norman Rockwell was the king of emotional evocation.

I would invariably feel his art before I would pore over his execution.

I’ve never encountered another artist since who captured me so completely.
